They are also known as 'helping' verbs, as they come before the main verb and help form some of our tenses. For example (these are all in the past tense): I was writing, I have been writing, I did write. Sindarin uses the verb Tol-= to come in a similar way but only for the future tense to mean 'going to'. For example: Tolen maded = I am going. The present tense in Spanish can mean three things. The Spanish phrase “yo hablo” can mean: yo hablo I speak. Yo hablo I am speaking. Yo hablo I do speak.
